At LED Lighting SA, we believe that creating a brighter future extends beyond the products we manufacture. It also means supporting initiatives that strengthen communities and give children opportunities to feel seen, valued and included.

On 1 February 2025, we proudly partnered with Sisanda FunDaytion, the City of Cape Town and other local organisations for the first Cape Town Children’s Home Fun Day. More than 600 children from care facilities across Cape Town gathered at Rygersdal Sports Grounds for a day dedicated to laughter, connection and the joy of play. Read the event coverage.

A day filled with joyful experiences

The programme was led by Sisanda FunDaytion’s Youth Play Ambassadors, volunteers and community leaders. Children participated in interactive play stations, soccer, face painting, Zumba and a special magic show.

Our CEO, Shawn Godfrey, joined Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and the many volunteers and partners who came together to share this memorable experience with the children.

While the activities created plenty of excitement, the purpose of the day extended far beyond entertainment. It provided a safe and welcoming environment where children could connect, express themselves and simply enjoy being children.

The power of play

Sisanda FunDaytion works to improve the lives of vulnerable children and young people by helping them strengthen relationships, build resilience and learn through play.

Play supports creativity, confidence and emotional well-being. It also creates opportunities for children to form positive relationships and develop the resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges.

The Fun Day demonstrated what becomes possible when businesses, community organisations, volunteers and local government work together around a shared purpose.

Partnership in action

We are proud to have played a part in an event that brought so much joy to so many children. The smiles, laughter and energy experienced throughout the day were a powerful reminder that meaningful community impact is created through collective action.
